BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA - TROOP 606 - IRVINE

Second Year Webelos Cub Scouts And Other Boys Age Eleven to Seventeen Are Invited To Consider Joining Boy Scout Troop 606

Troop 606 is always looking for motivated scouts to become a part of our program. If you would like to join a Troop committed to helping you grow and develop in your outdoor skills, leadership skills and life skills, then we are interested in getting to know you better.

Who Are We? Troop 606 is a non-denominational Boy Scout Troop that has been helping Irvine’s youth since 1968. We have a strong tradition of advancement, monthly outings, and annual summer camp. We are proud that over 90+ Eagle Scouts have come from our troop.

Troop 606 Is A Boy-Run Troop. We have approximately 75 Scouts of all ranks divided into patrols. We meet each Monday night from 7:30 to 8:30 at the University United Methodist Church (UUMC) in Irvine, 18422 Culver Dr., Irvine, CA 92612 (University Park).

Goals of Troop 606

Create experiences for the Scouts that will last a lifetime
Encourage our Scouts to reach the rank of Eagle when ready
Prepare the Scouts for the challenges of life
Develop leadership skills

Some Future Planned Events

Ski Trip to the local mountains
Camporee
Backpacking and camping trips (once each month)
Scout-O-Rama
Summer camp at Camp Chawanakee (near Yosemite National Park)

What is our Recruitment Process?

Mail in a Boy Scout Information Sheet (Recruitment Questionnaire) early.
Visit our Troop meeting on Monday, November 5, 2007, 7:30pm at UUMC
Sign-up to attend our “recruitment” camping trip (December 8, 2007 through December 9, 2007)
Attend our Recruitment Night on January 28, 2008, 7:30 to 8:30 pm. That evening we will give new parents an overview of the types of events that our Troop puts on during the year. Our Scouts plan to demonstrate outdoor cooking, first aid, provide backpacking tips, and demonstrate how to properly set up a tent.
We have a cap on our enrollment of 75 scouts, so depending on how many boys are in our program, we anticipate being able to enroll 15 new scouts in February. If we have more boys interested than we can accommodate, a selection process will occur and you will be notified in February whether we are able to accept you into our Troop or not. If you are accepted, you will need to complete the BSA Application to Join a Troop at that time, and pay the $120 annual dues required of all Troop 606 scouts.
